Ohio Organization of Nurse Executives

The Ohio Organization of Nurse Executives is a state organization of nurse leaders serving as the catalyst for innovative health care in Ohio and the nation. As the recognized center of excellence for clinical leadership, they improve health care through education, technology, research, consultation, networking and information sharing.


Our Mission

OONE’s mission is to be recognized as the voice of nursing leaders in Ohio.


OONE is a state organization for nursing leadership, providing a forum for sharing ideas and best practices while developing and promoting educational programs to strengthen nursing in education, administration, research and clinical practices. Connect with OONE on Facebook!

OONE Leadership Award   
Renae Phillips, FACHE, MSN, NEA-BC, RN  
Renae has worked tirelessly to advance the profession of nursing championing the collaboration, accountability and bringing research from books to bedside to improve overall medical care for patients. Renae mentored the OONE president-elect in preparing for leadership of the organization with her moving to past president, she had an unprecedented 3 years as president of OONE when the position was vacated. She has been involved in ongoing executive coaching sessions and meetings. She has served on the OONE board for 10 years and has been active with OHA initiatives, such as the Ohio Action Coalition, and as the OONE president spearheaded the OONE Legislative and Practice Committee’s work in leading Ohio to be a study site for the Transition to Practice research by the National State Boards of Nursing. She brings ideas and vision to all that she becomes involved in.   
Aspiring Nurse Leader Award  
Kim Dougan, MSN, NE-BC, RN  
Northeast OONE Chapter Winner: Kim began her nursing career in 2004 as a staff nurse on a stepdown unit; she rapidly transitioned to middle management and was promoted to a unit director role in 2007. She adopted the AACNs healthy work environment initiative. Kim’s leadership encouragement and role modeling also led to an increase in the number of MICU certified nurse staff. In 2015 her OONE fall conference poster presentation regarding restraint use with ventilator patients earned a first place award in the Quality and Safety category. In 2016 she was honored as a Key to Success winner and was nominated for the Ohio Hospital Association 2016 Healthcare Worker of the Year Award.
