2017 Eagle Award Recipients - Wes Dounda and Kent Behrman

The Ohio Society for Health Care Facilities Management named Wes Dounda, maintenance supervisor, Barnesville Hospital, and Kent Behrman, director of Facilities, Mount Carmel St. Ann’s, as the 2017 Eagle Award recipients for their outstanding performance, leadership and unique contributions toward energy efficiency, health care engineering/architecture and facilities management.

Known for his resourcefulness, Dounda re-built a damaged chiller to use in an office area and was instrumental in providing feedback to increase energy efficiency during the design of Barnesville Hospital’s new emergency room design. Under his direction, the hospital’s ENERGY STAR score rose from a baseline of 19 to a current score of 99, for which the hospital received ENERGY STAR certification from the U.S. EPA and received the 2017 Energy Champion award from the American Society for Healthcare Engineering.

At Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Behrman developed and secured energy initiatives resulting in energy use reduction. Under his direction, the hospital received recognition in OHA’s 2015 and 2016 Energy Cup competitions in the large hospital category. He was also instrumental in full accreditation awarded by the Joint Commission for Mount Carmel St. Ann’s, with zero findings during document review for two separate Joint Commission surveys.
