Hospital Leaders Elected to OHA Board of Trustees, Cleveland Clinic Executive to Serve as Chair in 2022

Columbus, Ohio - 43215 (Dec. 17, 2021) – The Ohio Hospital Association, the united voice of Ohio’s 245 hospitals and 15 health systems, announces new officers and welcomes two new members to its Board of Trustees for 2022.
 
Steven Glass, Chief Financial Officer, Cleveland Clinic (Cleveland) was elected chair of the board beginning Jan. 1, 2022. Michael Canady, MBA, FACHE, MD, CEO, Holzer Health System (Gallipolis) will be chair-elect and Patricia Finn, CEO, Fulton County Health Center (Wauseon) will serve as secretary/treasurer. Richard Lofgren, MD, MPH, FACP, president and CEO, UC Health (Cincinnati) transitions to immediate past chair. Board officers serve one-year terms.

New trustees-at-large elected by OHA membership for three-year terms beginning Jan. 1 include Ben Gill, president and CEO, Southern Ohio Medical Center (Portsmouth) and Cliff Megerian, MD, FACS, CEO, University Hospitals (Cleveland). OHA trustees re-elected for a new three-year term beginning Jan. 1 include Mark Clement, president and CEO, TriHealth (Cincinnati) and Deborah Feldman, president & CEO, Dayton Children's Hospital (Dayton). Returning Trustees for 2022 include:

  • Stephen Markovich, MD, president and CEO, OhioHealth (Columbus)
  • Randy Oostra, FACHE, president and CEO, ProMedica (Toledo)
  • Matthew Perry, president and CEO, Genesis HealthCare System (Zanesville)
  • David Phillips, MBA, president and CEO, WVU Medicine - Barnesville Hospital (Barnesville)
  • Brian Smith, president and chief operating officer, Bon Secours Mercy Health (Cincinnati)
The OHA Board sets policy and strategic direction for matters affecting hospitals throughout Ohio. The board includes representatives from small and large hospitals, urban and rural hospitals, teaching facilities and independent facilities and health care systems. The board consists of four officers, the OHA president and CEO and 14 trustees-at-large. 

Glass joined the OHA Board as a Trustee-at-Large in 2013. He served as the board’s secretary and treasurer in 2021. Glass joined the Cleveland Clinic in 2002 and is responsible for all financial operations and is a key member of the Executive Team which oversees the Strategic Direction and Operations of a 173-acre main campus near downtown Cleveland, 19 hospitals, more than 220 outpatient facilities, and over 70,800 employees worldwide at locations in southeast Florida; Las Vegas, Nevada; Toronto, Canada; Abu Dhabi, UAE; and London, England. Prior to joining the Cleveland Clinic, he was the Vice President of Finance for MedStar Health, in the mid-Atlantic region. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Towson University and is a Certified Public Accountant. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants and Healthcare Financial Management Association.
