OHA MEDIA STATEMENT: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

Columbus, Ohio (43215) Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Ohio Department of Health Director Amy Acton, MD, MPH, provided an update today on Ohio’s efforts to respond to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVD-19).

Ohio Hospital Association President and CEO Mike Abrams offers this statement regarding Ohio hospitals’ preparedness:

“The safety of patients, hospital personnel and the community are top priorities for Ohio hospitals. The Ohio Hospital Association, Ohio hospitals and our partners throughout the state, have established an infrastructure for infection prevention and emergency preparedness that is assessed constantly.

We are actively coordinating with state and local agencies such as the Ohio Department of Health and Ohio Emergency Management Services on emergency preparedness and readiness to ensure hospitals are equipped to respond to infectious disease events such as COVD-19, H1N1 flu and Ebola.

We continue to report on and monitor updates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the state health department, and we will work to equip our member hospitals with resources and information necessary to safely and effectively respond to the Coronavirus Disease 2019.”

OHA launched a webpage featuring state and federal resources related to COVID-19 preparedness.
