Ohio is accepting applications through January for the next round of funding for TechCred, a program that allows businesses to identify the specific qualifications they need and employees they want to upskill toward a more advanced position. Then, in partnership with a training provider, the employer can apply at TechCred.Ohio.gov, and the state will reimburse up to $2,000 of training upon completion of a credential.
TechCred includes 379 approved credentials, including several in health care and information technology. Ohio employers also can request that additional credentials be added to the list through the online application process. Each submission is reviewed by a panel that makes a recommendation to the Ohio Department of Higher Education. In the first round of funding, requests from 234 businesses were approved.
