August is National Immunization Awareness Month, Join Collaboration to Encourage Children’s Immunizations

National Immunization Awareness Month is an annual observance held in August to highlight the importance of vaccines.
As schools and child care facilities continue to work through reopening, Ohio’s five Medicaid managed care plans and the Ohio Department of Medicaid have joined forces to encourage the provider community to reach out and remind parents to keep their children’s immunizations up to date.

The collaboration between the ODM and the Ohio Association of Health Plans is focusing on children ages 0-6 and emphasizing the need for students who would be entering preschool or kindergarten to have the necessary immunizations – even if they are attending virtual school this fall. 

Providers interested in sharing their outreach efforts with the collaboration can do so by emailing Lori Johnston, board chair of the Ohio Association of Health Plans, at
