CDC Warns of Drug Resistant Superbug

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has declared Candida auris a serious global threat. The emerging fungus causes serious illness in hospitalized patients. Most C. auris cases in the United States have been detected in the New York City area, New Jersey and the Chicago area. But there are also reported cases in nearby states Illinois and Indiana.

According to the CDC there are more than 580 confirmed cases of C. auris in the U.S. and thousands more in over 30 countries.
