The deadline for hospitals to submit applications for the Ohio First Steps for Healthy Babies program is Oct. 1. The program, a collaboration between the Ohio Hospital Association and the Ohio Department of Health, recognizes maternity centers in Ohio for taking steps to promote, protect and support breastfeeding in their organization. Hospitals are recognized for implementing the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding and can earn five stars for every two steps achieved.
