OHA Member Hospital, CVS Install Drug Take-Back Units

OHA member hospital Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, which is part of the Grand Lake Health System, recently installed a MedSafe medication disposal box in the hospital’s main lobby for the public to dispose of unused, expired or unwanted drugs, including over-the-counter medications.

The drug take-back box will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. This initiative builds on an eight-year partnership between the Grand Lake Health System and Auglaize County Sheriff’s Department – which has led to the safe disposal of 2,100 pounds of drugs.

CVS Pharmacy stores in Lucas, Sandusky and Wood counties are also rolling out four safe drug disposal units.

The Ohio Hospital Association is committed to fighting opioid addiction through our statewide Opioid Response Initiative and online Resource Hub. One resource in that hub is a drug take-back site locator. Click here to find a site near you.
