OHA Member Hospitals Featured in Governor's Review of Back-to-School Protocols

Medical leaders from three OHA member children's hospitals Tuesday joined Gov. Mike DeWine as his COVID-19 update addressed Ohio's approach to back-to-school planning.

The governor was joined in his presentation and press questions by: Patty Manning, MD, chief of staff at Cincinnati Children's; Adam Mezoff, MD, chief medical officer at Dayton Children's; and John Barnard, MD, chief of pediatrics, Nationwide Children's.

The physicians shared data on children and COVID and what lessons Ohio schools and parents should take from the experiences of summer camps that opened this summer and how schools have reopened already in other countries.

DeWine, who has said he is leaving most decisions to local school districts, reported today that about 500,000 Ohio school children are in districts planning to have in-person classes.
