OHA Members Share Tips on Safe Family Gatherings During DeWine Press Conference

During his COVID-19 briefing yesterday, Gov. Mike DeWine spoke with Nick Dreher, MD, and David Margolius, MD, from MetroHealth System. Dreher discussed the importance of following proper prevention methods to avoid overwhelming Ohio’s hospital systems with COVID-19 patients. Family gatherings were cited as being a key factor for the large increase in cases and hospitalizations. Margolius reminded Ohioans to continue wearing a mask and social distancing when spending time with their friends and family. Watch the press conference here.

DeWine also announced the state’s positivity rate was up to 5.4% compared to the seven-day average of 4.2% and September’s positivity rate of 2.7%. Another notable increase involves hospitalizations with 1,042 COVID inpatients in hospitals compared to the 563 patients noted on Sept. 20.
