Registration Now Open for Medicare 101 Training

The Ohio Hospital Association and Florida Hospital Association are teaming up to present a comprehensive review of Medicare provider reimbursement systems and cost reporting July 26 in Columbus. The popular annual “Medicare 101” seminar is designed for trustees and hospital employees who are new to health care facility finance, need to understand the link between clinical and financial performance or could use a refresher course on how Medicare affects health care operations and patient relations.
Kathy Reep, vice president of Financial Services, Florida Hospital Association, will join Shawn Stack, OHA’s director of Health Economics & Policy, to provide an overview of the Medicare program and present fundamentals of various Medicare facility reimbursement methodologies, including those based on cost, prospective payment systems and fee schedules.
Attendees will discuss:
  • An overview of Medicare coverage and payment principles
  • Proposed changes to the FFY 2019 Medicare inpatient hospital, inpatient rehabilitation facility, inpatient psychiatric and skilled nursing prospective payment systems
  • A Medicare Payment Advisory Commission Update
  • Ohio and Managed Care Payers: an update on OHA’s Private Payer Work Group
Registration is required–the fee to attend is $280 per person for employees of OHA member hospitals and corporate partners, and $350 for non-members. Attendees can earn up to 4.8 continuing professional education credits. Please contact Casey Strader at or call 614-221-7614 for information on continuing education credits.
