Reserve Your Spot for Statewide Healthy Equity Training Conference Sept. 26-27

Join the Multiethnic Advocates for Cultural Competence for the 15th Annual Statewide Conference “Building Capacity to Advance Health Equity” Sept. 26-27 at Creekside Conference and Event Center in Gahanna.
The conference will feature a two-part plenary panel on “Disrupting Inequity: Unpacking Implicit Bias in Addiction and Recovery.” The moderator will pose prepared questions to the panel during Part One on Sept. 26. Audience questions will be met with solution-based responses from panelists during Part Two on Sept. 27.
As Ohio continues to address the opiate/heroin crisis, it is critically important to confront biased perceptions about the impact of addiction across communities and cultures. While the collaborative and coordinated system response to this epidemic should be praised, failure to acknowledge pervasive bias further perpetuates trauma and threatens recovery for all. Panelists representing the legal profession, public policy and lived experience will provide vital insight to ensure health equity.
The conference is supported by Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services, the Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board of Franklin County, Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio, the Asian Festival, the Community for New Direction, the Ohio Commission on Minority Health, Columbus Public Health and CareSource.
