Ohio hospitals are vital to meeting the health care needs of Ohio's communities. They provide a wide-range of quality health care services, support public health needs and offer a myriad of other community services to help ensure a healthy Ohio. 

  • Hospitals employed more than 250,000 Ohioans and paid more than $16.6 billion in direct wages in 2014.
  • Ohio hospitals generate more than $27.88 billion annually in economic impact.
  • Hospitals are the backbone of Ohio’s thriving health care sector, employing 39 percent of Ohio’s health care workers and making up 44 percent of the annual health care sector payroll.
  • Ohio hospitals in 2014 invested more than $2.16 billion in community benefit activities to improve the health of the local citizens, neighborhoods and communities they serve.
