Ohio is the home of internationally renowned hospitals for adults and children. Patients traveled to Ohio for care in 2016 from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin islands and numerous countries abroad. 

Patients had 33.6 million hospital encounters in Ohio in 2016.

Employment 

Hospitals are major economic catalysts.

OHA is a leader in health care employment in Ohio, operating three separate staffing and employment programs covering the full scope of health-related jobs in Ohio: Medical Opportunities in Ohio, OHhospitaljobs.com and OHA Solutions staffing program. 

Ohio hospitals generate $29.2 billion annually in statewide economic impact. In 2015, Ohio hospitals directly employed more than  250,000 Ohioans. 
 

Community Benefit

Ohio hospitals invested more than $2.05 billion in community benefit activities $377 million in charity care to improve the health of the local citizens, neighborhoods and communities they serve in 2015.
