As the first module in the advanced analytics software platform, WayFinder will guide hospital quality improvement staff by providing hospital performance, comparative benchmarking and specific information on which patient encounters were likely preventable.

The WayFinder software allows hospitals to evaluate their performance on the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Patient Safety and Quality Indicator scores up to 21 months sooner than previously available. Through predictive modeling capabilities, hospitals can see their predicted scores with a 95% confidence rate. The WayFinder tool also allows hospitals to compare themselves to peer groups and benchmark groups down to the indicator level, including measures that are part of value based purchasing.

OHA drives transformational change and improvement in health care quality, patient safety and satisfaction. For nearly 20 years, prior to the national movement to impact quality, OHA was engaged in efforts to improve health care outcomes. OHA’s long-standing service to hospitals’ patient safety and quality includes serving as aggregator for members’ data and working with AHRQ through their Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP). This work provided a foundation for collaboration between OHA and Battelle to provide sophisticated analytics for evaluating and benchmarking quality outcomes, forecast future performance, and provide actionable information to make improvements today.

WayFinder - Sign-up Today/Request Demo

In 2015, Battelle and OHA launched an enhanced version of WayFinder after testing the product with a group of Ohio beta hospitals in the first quarter of 2014 and enhancements were made based on their feedback. Because of OHA’s collaboration with Battelle to develop, refine and test the WayFinder tool, OHA member hospitals will be offered a special subscription in the country for WayFinder, set at a fraction of the price for other analytic tools. One of OHA’s goals with the project was to provide its member hospitals with sophisticated tools that are affordable to every member hospital.

To learn more about this effort or to sign-up, contact OHA’s Amy Andres.

In September 2015, The Ohio Hospital Association’s Institute for Health Innovation was one of 17 national, regional or state hospital associations and health system organizations selected to continue efforts as a CMS hospital engagement network. As a part of this contract, participating hospitals gain one year of access to the entire WayFinder platform.
Contact Rosalie Weakland if you are interested in participating in the OHA hospital engagement network.
