Ohio Hospitals Must Establish Workplace Violence Prevention Plans by July
April 18, 2025
Under HB 452, all Ohio hospitals—both independent and part of larger systems—must implement formal security plans to prevent workplace violence by July 8, 2025.
The law requires each hospital to assemble a security team, conduct a security risk assessment, develop a comprehensive security plan and meet specific standards for training, incident reporting, signage and annual review.
To comply, hospitals must also submit an attestation through Juvare’s EMResource platform. Access can be requested by completing the Licensure Juvare User/Organization Request form, available through the Ohio Department of Health.
