Hospital violence is an increasing concern throughout the country, necessitating timely, pertinent education and resources to address the issue effectively. Ohio hospitals recognize the need for collaboration with a united voice, indicating hospital violence will not be tolerated.
OHA in early 2023 focused our efforts on accessing and providing violence prevention resources to member hospitals. A three-tiered approach was developed and presented to diverse member stakeholder groups throughout the year, and the work will continue beyond this initial process.
The initial approach consisted of:
- A public awareness campaign
- Pursuit of a statewide code of conduct
- Vigilant legislation engagement
U.S. News & World Report Media Panel – OHA’s Jim Guliano, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, NPD-BC, FACHE participated in a national media panel virtual event on August 29, 2024, sponsored by U.S. News & World Report. The media panel event was titled, “Keeping Healthcare Workers Safe: Reducing the Risk of Workplace Violence.”
