Facilities Managers — OSHFM
The overarching goal of the Ohio Society for Health Care Facilities Management, or OSHFM, is to improve the quality of patient care and comfort — by advancing the development of hospital engineering, security and safety. OSHFM provides education, regulatory guidance, networking and advocacy representation for health care facility managers, engineers, architects, constructors and many others involved with maintaining safe healing environments.
Purpose & Objectives
OSHFM was established as an affiliated society of OHA in 1983. The society’s purpose is to advance the development of hospital engineering in Ohio by:
- Encouraging and assisting members in developing their knowledge and increasing their competence in the field to improve the quality of patient care and comfort
- Providing a medium for the exchange of ideas and dissemination of information among members
- Assisting hospital administration and the public in understanding that the practice of hospital engineering calls for special training and experience
- Monitoring and influencing legislation, regulations, codes and standards that impact on hospital engineering
In meeting these objectives, the Ohio Society for Hospital Engineering promotes careers in hospital engineering, develops educational programming, and encourages affiliation with the American Society for Hospital Engineering.
Membership Eligibility
Eligible members include management, staff, professionals and representatives of OHA member hospitals and OHA corporate partners who are actively employed in, by or on behalf of a hospital or health system, and who have responsibility regarding health care facilities management, plant engineering, design/construction, security, safety, clinical engineering and/or telecommunications.

Membership in OSHFM is effective upon formal application and approval of OHA.
