2024 Winner – Scott Heinle, OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital

The Ohio Society for Health Care Facilities Management, or OSHFM, presented its annual Eagle Award during its conference Thursday. Congratulations to the 2024 Eagle Award winner, Scott Heinle, facility manager at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. His nomination states he is a results-driven professional with a strong background in maintenance, facilities management and project management, and his commitment to continuous improvement has been a key factor in the success of the hospital’s sustainability initiatives.

Scott’s dedication to sustainability is evident through leading his team in achievement of Energy Star Certification of his hospital. He has also overseen major energy improvement projects, including the complete conversion of over 5,000 lighting fixtures to LEDs, an 8.9-million-dollar steam plant modernization project focused on energy optimization and installation of the hospital’s very first EV charging stations. Scott is a valuable asset to his team.

The other nominee was Mark Barich, director of Energy Management for the Summa Health System. He has over 47 years of experience and has dedicated his entire career to the betterment of the facility and maintenance departments. Mark’s nomination states he is an excellent mentor to other Summa employees and provides a professional environment that keeps the comfort of the patient top of mind.

Mark was an instrumental force behind creating Akron City Hospitals “sub-station”, which gives Summa Health enormous buying power for electricity. He has developed numerous energy strategies and is a respected energy manager in the area; when Mark speaks on projects, people listen. Mark’s dedication is evident by seeing Summa’s progression in energy efficient projects, and in achieving a very high Energy Star rating in the state of Ohio.
