Improving Maternal Health Outcomes — Addressing Obstetric Hemorrhage

OHA’s Board of Trustees identified improving maternal and infant health as one of our key strategic focus areas. Ohio’s second Alliance for Innovation in Maternal Health initiative focuses on improving hospital staff readiness, recognition of and response to obstetric hemorrhage, which Ohio’s Pregnancy-Associated Mortality Review, or PAMR, (summarizing data from 2008-2016) reported to be preventable in 64% of maternal deaths. These efforts are undertaken in partnership with the Ohio Department of Children and Youth.
