Unemployment Compensation Program

Using the available group rate, Ohio hospitals participating in OHA’s Unemployment Compensation Program save significantly on their unemployment taxes. Currently, 190 Ohio hospitals employing nearly 215,000 Ohioans participate in the program — and our members saved an impressive $54.4 million last year on state and federal unemployment taxes and surety bond premiums.

BENEFIT FROM EXPERT SERVICE FOCUSED ON OHIO MEMBERSHIP

With five hearing consultants on standby, OHA provides a representative for all unemployment hearings. We coordinate preparation calls with witnesses, and we ensure that all documentation from the employer and the claimant is shared via a precise Director’s file.

We also assure our members that their claims are never deferred for other states’ pressing deadlines, because we work only with hospitals and only in Ohio.

TAX SAVINGS WITH GROUP RATES

OHA members save significantly on unemployement taxes using the group rate availability to hospitals participating in the statewide program. Currently, 190 Ohio hospitals employing nearly 215,000 Ohioans particpate in the program.

SIGNIFICANT SAVINGS ON SURETY BONDS

OHA stands with our members and guarantees the first $1.5 million of the hospital’s liability, with member hospitals paying only $4.50 per $1,000 for their bond.

REDUCE LIABILITIES WITH CLAIMS MANAGEMENT

Supported by dedicated full-time claims professionals, our hospitals are assured of being notified of all claims filings on the same day. This gives employers the maximum time to gather documentation ahead of the state’s 10-day response deadline.

OHA files appeals and requests for hearings within two days oif receiving any unfavorable determinations or redeterminations to save employers the cost of claimants collecting benefits four weeks longer than may be allowed.

ENJOY PEACE OF MIND

Each participating member hospital receives a consolidated monthly report showing all charges and remaining liability for each claimant. In addition, OHA works with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services to resolve any discrepancies on charges.

SAVE WITH ONE FLAT FEE

All services are available to OHA member hospitals for a flat fee of $3.30 per each employee that employers have reported to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services on their second quarter wage report.

NO-COST, NO-OBLIGATION ESTIMATE

OHA offers a no-cost, no-obligation estimate for any member hospital to evaluate its savings using OHA's Unemployment Compensation Program. Contact Brenda Slagle.
