OHA Members Receive Grants to Combat Substance Misuse

OHA members Kettering Health Medical Center, Dayton Children’s Hospital, Mercy Health-St. Rita Medical Center and Mercer Health are among the most recent recipients of grants announced by the OneOhio Recovery Foundation. The foundation funds projects across the state to help combat substance misuse by supporting prevention, treatment and recovery efforts.

The foundation has been releasing grants in groups over the last several months, with all 2024 Regional Grant Cycle awards expected to be announced by its Feb. 12 board meeting. See a complete list of recipients here.

Additional Application Period Ahead

The 2024 Regional Grant Cycle is just the first of several grant opportunities to come. Organizations and leaders seeking to submit applications in the future can sign up on the Foundation’s website here to receive updates.

Five health care roles made U.S. News & World Report's 2025 list of the best jobs without a bachelor’s degree. The rankings evaluate jobs based on hiring demand, wages, future prospects, safety and work-life balance, using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The health care roles highlighted include hearing aid specialists, pharmacy technicians, ophthalmic medical technicians, medical records technicians and licensed practical and vocational nurses. Ohio EPA Offers Free Pollution Prevention Assessments

The Ohio EPA and Office of Environmental Innovation are providing free on-site pollution prevention assessments to help organizations reduce environmental impacts and enhance stewardship efforts. Services include waste diversion, water conservation, energy efficiency, green building and other reduction strategies. The confidential assessments are unrelated to regulatory requirements and focus on low-cost or no-cost improvements. AHA Launches National Ad Campaign Highlighting Hospitals' 24/7 Care

The American Hospital Association recently launched a new national ad campaign emphasizing how hospitals and health systems provide continuous care for patients and communities year-round. The campaign features a 30-second TV ad airing on national and cable networks, along with digital ads and social media outreach. Click here to view the full ad.
