AHA Fellowship Prepares Future Health Care Leaders; Applications Due March 31

The Sepsis Alliance is raising awareness during Sepsis Survivor Week, Feb. 9-15, by highlighting the physical, mental and emotional challenges faced by up to 60% of sepsis survivors. The organization provides educational resources, advocacy tools and survivor stories to support those affected and drive policy change. Health care professionals can access training through the Sepsis Alliance and join efforts to improve post-sepsis care. The Ohio Society of Health Care Risk Managers and the Society for Ohio Health Care Attorneys will host their annual spring conference on March 28 at The Blackwell Inn in Columbus. The event will bring together risk managers, hospital attorneys, compliance officers and health care leaders to discuss key legal and risk management issues impacting hospitals. The Ohio Department of Health has reported the state's first probable human case of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in a Mercer County farm worker who had contact with deceased poultry. While the CDC considers the risk to the general public low, officials urge those working with birds to follow biosecurity protocols and avoid unprotected contact with sick or dead poultry. Best practices for poultry workers include proper hygiene, limiting visitor access, and monitoring flocks for illness.
