Human Resources Administrators-OSHHRA

The Ohio Society of Health Care Human Resources Administrators, or OSHHRA, provides ample opportunity for high-quality education, leadership and fellowship — promoting the strategic development of effective human resources management in OHA health care organizations.
 

Purpose & Objectives

Purpose
The Ohio Society of Health Care Human Resources Administrators is a professional society of hospital personnel executives organized under the auspices of the Ohio Hospital Association. OSHHRA is an affiliated society of OHA as well as ASHHRA, American Society for Health Care Human Resources Administration, of the American Hospital Association.

Objectives
To advance the concept of human resource management in health care institutions and other health related institutions in other ways as deemed beneficial by the membership of this organization.

  • Be an advocate of OSHHRA
  • Promote OSHHRA
  • Maintain visibility
  • To remain vigilant to health care trends and to convey information to Ohio risk managers
  • To provide education and resources to human resource professionals
  • To serve as the Ohio Chapter of ASHHRA

Mission
The Ohio Society of Health Care Human Resources Administrators promotes the strategic development of effective human resource management in OHA healthcare organizations with an emphasis on emerging trends, education, laws and regulations, and leadership. 

  • To provide leadership in human resource policy and practice formulation and implementation
  • To serve as an adviser to OHA, state government, and other local, state and national groups on Ohio health care human resource issues
  • To provide development of members through high quality regional educational programs, statewide conferences and information sharing
  • To encourage information networking, member support and enjoyment to complement professional development

Membership Eligibility

OSHHRA membership is open to Individuals in hospital human resources leadership who are employed by an OHA member hospital or health system. OSHHRA members may be full members, associate members, honorary or emeritus members and an OHA corporate partner.  Board approval is required for honorary or emeritus

Additional qualifications required:

  • Actively employed in health care with at least 50% of job duties in the HR field, including training and organizational development, or
  • Represent health care human resources interests, or
  • Employed in human resources activities by a hospital or health care system within the state of Ohio

Non-voting membership levels:

  • Academic Status: professors/instructors at the university level involved in the HR profession.
  • Student Status: college student studying HR, organizational development, etc.
  • Vendor Status:  corporate vendor members of OHA who support the HR field.
  • Emeritus Status: retired Board HR professionals

Membership in OSHHRA is separate from membership in ASHHRA. We encourage all OSHHRA members to join ASHHRA.  For further information on ASHHRA membership, go to www.ashhra.org.

OSHHRA is represented at the national level by the American Society for Health Care Human Resources Administration. ASHHRA provides timely and critical support through research, learning and knowledge sharing, professional development, products and resources and opportunities for networking and collaboration. ASHHRA offers the only certification distinguishing health care human resources professionals, the Certified in Healthcare Human Resources, or CHHR.
