In recognition of National Patient Safety Awareness Week (March 10-16), the Ohio Patient Safety Institute recognizes Cleveland Clinic (Cleveland), Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital (Cleveland) and Nationwide Children’s Hospital (Columbus) as the recipients of the 10th Annual Dr. Frank Dono Best Practice Awards for their work to improve health care outcomes.

OHA Institute for Health Innovation is expanding continuing education for opioid prescribers and benchmarking analysis of provider prescribing at Ohio hospitals this year. These new efforts are supported by the Coverys Community Healthcare Foundation which awarded OHA with a grant totaling $612,773 for its Educating Ohio’s Prescribers project. The project will conclude in 2022.

The Cleveland Clinic and Licking Memorial Health System received the Dr. Frank Dono Best Practice award during OHA’s Annual Meeting Quality Summit. The summit was attended by leaders and clinical experts from Ohio hospitals who gathered to participate in continuing education sessions.
In recognition of National Hospital Week, May 6-12, the Ohio Hospital Association today announced 62 nominees for the 2018 Health Care Worker of the Year Award, three Health Care Leadership Award recipients and the inductee of OHA’s Health Care Hall of Fame to be recognized at the annual OHA Recognition Dinner, during the association’s annual meeting June 4-6 at the Hilton Columbus at Easton.
OHA is contributing a new resource in the fight against the opioid crisis by launching an interactive dashboard with downloadable files providing county-level data on overdose patient encounters at Ohio hospitals for use by local health departments and community groups.
