OHA Opens Submissions for 2025 Health Care Worker of the Year Award

Calling all health care heroes: OHA is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Albert E. Dyckes Health Care Worker of the Year Award!

The honor recognizes outstanding front-line health care workers from OHA member hospitals who consistently go above and beyond, embody the mission and values of their organization and give back to the community. Submissions will be accepted until Nov. 30, 2024.

Each member hospital may nominate one individual, and two high-resolution photos must accompany each submission. The award will be presented at the OHA Recognition Dinner on May 20, 2025, during the 110th Annual Meeting & Education Summit at the Hyatt Regency Columbus from May 19-21. All nominees will be honored on social media leading up to the event, with finalists and the winner announced during the dinner.

Eligibility is open to current employees, including both direct caregivers and support staff.

IHI Board of Directors Finalized for 2025; New Finance Committee Chair Named

OHA's Institute of Health Innovations, or IHI, has cemented its Board of Directors for the new year, with appointments effective Jan. 1, 2025. The Board is responsible for the IHI's activities in advancing safety and quality excellence and enhancing community health. Heidi Gartland, chief government and community relations officer at University Hospitals, will serve as Board chair, while Robert Montagnese, president and CEO of Licking Memorial Hospital, will assume the role of chair-elect. Michael Canady, MD, retired CEO of Holzer Health System and recipient of OHA's 2024 Donald R. Newkirk Health Care Leadership Award, will take on the position of secretary/treasurer.…

AHRQ Launches National Health Care Safety Dashboard

The National Action Alliance for Patient and Workforce Safety has introduced a public-facing dashboard aggregating federal safety data, including CMS safety measures and AHRQ patient safety indicators. Initially focused on acute care hospitals, the dashboard will later expand to include settings like ambulatory care and nursing homes. This tool supports the alliance's goal of reducing patient and workforce harm by 50% by 2026 by tracking trends and identifying improvement areas. Learn more and access the dashboard.
